(Tongue in Cheek)
They should’ve followed the Big Pharma’s strategy and convinced law makers to allow them to make their products without the liability that comes with producing products with poisons. The pharmaceuticals have their cake and eat it too (I’ll explain) and Monsanto could’ve joined them at the table had they been smart.
Instead Monsanto is now liable for two jury decided cases which accuses Roundup of causing cancer in two people. Monsanto makes Roundup. Monsanto was bought by Bayer so technically it is Bayer’s liability today to pay the $78,000,000 (reduced from the original $289 million dollars) for one of the cases (the next settlement is still waiting decision). Silly corporation. Why didn’t they ask for immunity from such law suits?
They could’ve claimed they were giving the world the best agricultural product of the century that allows for exponential growth and harvesting of crops. The pharmaceuticals swayed law makers in the 1980’s that the vaccines they make are too important to abandon, yet the vaccine makers threatened to stop making them if they were liable for the harms the vaccines caused. Nice logic huh? But hey, lawmakers bit. Yes, they threatened to stop making vaccines because of the liability they faced. Oh, if only Monsanto had done the same! And Monsanto (and the EPA) knew about the cancer-causing properties of their product in the 1980’s too!
If they had, these two current cases against them would’ve instead be held in a special government court for Big AG industry just like the Vaccine court does for its industry. Vaccine injury settlements are over $3,000,000,000 thus far, but the vaccine makers paid none of those expenses as they collect billions in profits! Great deal huh?
Instead of paying millions of dollars for causing cancer, like the pharmaceuticals, the penalty/settlements would be drastically reduced. A vaccine death, if I recall correctly, gets you $250,000 max. AND, the taxpayers pay the penalty, not Big Pharma. Oh boy did Monsanto miss out! Die from a vaccine related injury and get a max settlement of $250,000, paid by the taxpayer, but get cancer from Roundup and get $78,000,000 paid by Monsanto/Bayer.
Now, Bayer is stuck with a mess. There are thousands of cases awaiting trial against them. They may follow the downfall path of Big Tobacco. While the whole time the path of Big Pharma was theirs for the taking. Silly Monsanto. Or, maybe smart Monsanto for selling themselves to Bayer for $63,000,000,000 last year before the crap hit the fan!
And for all of those who were criticized, mocked, and ridiculed over the previous decade for trying to inform others of the cancer-causing poison of Roundup (as well as the environmental harm), they are now vindicated. Not the vaccine hipsters…sorry, no such luck. The poisons in vaccines are immune from this kind of jury decision. The American people do not get the responsibility/privilege to decide the cases against vaccines.
The Monsanto Mistake ought to be a big warning to all corporations: get your immunity now! Press you law makers! Make a case that you ought not be liable for your harm! Do not follow Big Tobacco, follow Big Pharma!
