Founded in 1998by Broadway and entertainment veteran Mark Ruhala (a Lansing area native) along with his wife, Celina; the Ruhala Performing Arts Center has trained, taught & produced entertainment professionals in the Mid-Michigan area. Many of whom are currently working onBroadway, in movies, television, and some are members of companies in some of the most prestigious theatrical or dance companies around the world. Mr. Ruhala’s expertise has the foundation of having over 35 years in the entertainment industry as a director, choreographer, writer, (and probably the one he’d say he still enjoys the most?).. a teacher. It is teaching where Mark finds his greatest passion and love for the craft of theater.
His greatest satisfaction still comes today from sharing what he’s learned from entertainment and the arts over a 30+ year career in the entertainment industry. He especially wants to connect with the young dancers, actors, singers, performers that will always remind him of a boy many years ago that was going to find a to be successful in . Mark won’t refuse a class to anyone that desires to dance, act or sing. Just as he saw his first teacher and mentor do the same. Mark is honored and proud to be able to pass his knowledge and experience to future generations of young artists in the Mid-Michigan area because he remembers that many years ago, his very first teacher did just that for him, which was the catalyst for his long and successful career that followed.
A note from Mark…
“I do love this community! I love this town! I love the people in it! I grew up here and after several years away pursuing an entertainment career, I came back. This is my home. And we are friends if you call it your home as well.
So my friends, whether you’re looking for good, solid, technique classes in order to hone your craft and perfect your theatrical skill set? or looking for exercise/fitness/wellness classes to simply feel better? Ruhala Center is here for you as much as it is for me. I remain as committed as I’ve ever been to helping anyone that walks through our doors reach whatever professional, (or personal) goal/s they may have.”
